Jefferson Matters drops Chamber from name

The organization formerly known as “Jefferson Matters: A Chamber and Main Street Community”, formally announces its new name of “Jefferson Matters”.

After the merger of the Jefferson Matters: Main Street program and Greene County Chamber of Commerce in the spring of 2020, it was decided to have a lengthy, inclusive name, acknowledging both previous organizations. After three years of letting the community acclimate to the merge, the executive team and board decided to shorten the name in the interest of branding and ease of use.

The new Jefferson Matters organization is proud and excited for its next chapter.

The current executive team includes president Amy Milligan, vice president  Kristin Russell, treasurer Danille Curtis, secretary Deb McGinn, past president Jamie Daubendiek, and director Matt Wetrich. Board members are Philip Heisterkamp, Chad Stevens, Dave Sloan (city council rep), Karen Lawton, Emily Dyer, Bonnie Silbaugh,  Pete Bardole, Jean Feldman, and Peg Raney. The staff is made of Beth Vander Wilt, finances; Molly Cunningham, events & tourism coordinator; and Wetrich.

The Jefferson Matters mission statement:

Our organization’s purpose is to support, promote, and preserve the historic downtown of Jefferson, Iowa while contributing to the greater community’s continued vitality.
